Series Description

The Power Innovations tested and proven Uninterruptible Power Quality™ (UPQ™) technology is incorporated in the Q-RX™ Series (Ruggedized Rack Front Loadable). The Q-RX is designed for extreme shock, vibration, temperature, and humidity conditions. This family of products provides next generation technology for today’s sensitive electronic equipment.

The Q-RX completely isolates and filters erratic input power to produce a reliable, pure sine wave output. This solution is more efficient, as well as smaller than other market offerings. Back-up times are increased while heat dissipation is decreased.

The Q-RX provides five (5) stages of isolation and conversion. In comparison, traditional UPS online systems provide only double conversion. Advanced stages of isolation allow Q-RX systems to accept a wide range of input power variation (up to double that of traditional UPS systems).

Ideally suited for:

  • Rugged Environments
  • Military
  • Oil Field Exploration
  • Shipboard Applications
  • Remote Locations

Configurations:

  • Q-RX™ (Standard Configuration)
  • Q-RX-Z2™ (Zone 2 compliant - ATEX Directive 99/92/EC)

Series Features

High Resolution Sine Wave Output

The Q-RX assures perfect power to connected equipment. The systems isolate, filter, and regulate impure and erratic input power to provide a pure and consistent sine wave output.

High Frequency Power Generation

High frequency generation refers to the rate and resolution by which the inverter can switch to produce a sine wave. Q-RX systems generate at 50 KHz- more than twice as fast as most traditional UPS systems. High frequency switching produces a perfect sine wave output while offering higher efficiency. Some advantages include smaller size for equal output, less weight, less heat dissipation, longer run time, and higher reliability.

Rack Front Filtering

Q-RX systems incorporate negative air flow and a filtering process that together help keep vital components clean. This feature enables cooler and more reliable operation.

Expandable Backup Time

Q-RX system batteries provide five (5) minutes of backup time at full load. Backup time is expandable with additional battery modules.

Front Rack, Hot-Swappable Battery Replacement

A key feature of the Q-RX systems is the unique and innovative way batteries are maintained and replaced. Battery modules can be exchanged, replaced, or added while the system is in full operation. No shutdown or removal of the unit is required.

Advanced Protection

The Q-RFL incorporates technologies that preserve the life of the system and connected equipment. Advanced features include:

·         Overload bypass

·         Short-circuit protection

·         Over temperature shutdown

Vibration and Shock Testing

Q-RX systems meet or exceed MIL-STD-167 for shipboard vibration over a range exceeding 4-50 Hz. The vibration tests, both operational and non-operational, deliver up to 2G forces for 2-4 hours. Q-RX systems meet or exceed MIL-STD-810E for shock. In each axis multiple positive and negative shocks are applied up to 30G forces.

Thermal and Humidity Testing

Q-RX systems meet or exceed MIL-STD-810 for temperature, thermal shock, and condensing humidity from -30°C (-22°F) to 60°C (140°F), both operationally and non-operationally.

Q-RX-Z2 (ATEX Directive 99/92/EC Certified)

The Q-RX-Z2™ is designed for enclosures that are compliant with the ATEX Directive 99/92/EC. The Q-RX-Z2 has all the features of the Q-RX, and meets the Zone2 requirements and regulations for potentially explosive environments.

Additional Features

  • Full feature display
  • Cold start function
  • Front-load, hot-swappable batteries
  • Cleanable / replaceable air filters
  • Bypass SFT (System Fault Tolerance)
  • MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) of 122,566 hours
  • Cannon-type battery connectors (optional)
  • Air intake from the top (optional)
  • External grounding stud (optional)

UPQsoft™

UPQsoft is Power Innovations' smart UPQ local montoring and control software for the Windows, NetWare, or UNIX/Linux environment. This software provides a real-time view of the Q-RX system status within a standalone or networked environment. Displayed in a variety of graphical and table forms, the data gives administrators access to UPQ system activity and a comprehensive history of power-related events (see UPQsoft).

Options to be purchased with this series:

UPQnet-agent III™

The Q-RX can be remotely monitored and managed using a UPQnet-agent III. The UPQ net-agent III provides a comprehensive, easy-to-understand, secure Web-base interface to monitor and control any UPQ system- via a network, an IP address or dial-up connection. This web page provides vital information from the Q-RX that is available both locally and remotely, and may be accessed via computer, cell phone, PDA or other electronic devices with internet connections. The UPQnet-agent III also sends TRAP and email notifications regarding system status when user-set parameters are acheived (see UPQnet-agent III).
