LINDON, Utah, August 28, 2007— This Thursday when Ogden City moves its IT services to the lawn to operate power independent for twenty four hours as part of an emergency exercise with national attention, the PowerHawk™ will be there providing constant power to the operation.
The PowerHawk, a product of Power Innovations of Lindon, is an emergency mobile power vehicle that provides the clean power required by today’s sensitive electronic equipment. All of Ogden City IT service’s equipment will be plugged into the truck’s power bar and power distribution units. The operation is part of Ogden City’s Disaster Operations-Information Technology Exercise and Community Preparedness Event.
“We are excited to support Ogden City in this operation. The PowerHawk is unique because it is an emergency first response vehicle that also provides perfect power under any condition. This allows for a command station to run power independent and makes this vehicle critical for disaster preparedness and first response teams,” says Robert Mount, President and CEO of Power Innovations.
The PowerHawk provides up to 50kVA of scalable power. Energy is produced by the engine, and then isolated, conditioned, filtered, regulated, and controlled by the Uninterruptible Power Quality™ (UPQ™) management system. It utilizes an array of UPQ inverter and battery modules, configurable for load, voltage, frequency, phase, and backup time.
The PowerHawk is customizable for various municipality, military, and government applications. Other features include satellite GPS and emergency site lighting.
The PowerHawk has been a large project for the Power Innovations, which formed its relationship with Ford and carefully defined the market and customer needs before building a commercial unit.
