Critical Emergency Power Solutions Addressed at Open House

LINDON, Utah, September 14, 2007Power is essential in the event of an emergency or disaster. Lives are at risk, timing is critical, and running sensitive equipment is vital. As a result, emergency response personal need emergency power solutions.

On Friday afternoon the City of Orem and Power Innovations, a leading power technology company, held an open house. Emergency response management and city administrators gathered to view demonstrations of newly available emergency power solutions.

“Power Innovations researched and analyzed the needs of the emergency response industry. In the event of a major emergency or disaster, clean and filtered power is necessary to run today’s sensitive electronic equipment. Not all power is created equally. The power created by a generator is inadequate. Power Innovations has developed a product that will assist first response teams by providing mobile, versatile, clean, filtered power,” says Robert Mount, President and CEO of Power Innovations.

Two products showcased at the open house were the PowerHawk™, an emergency mobile power vehicle, and the Auto-Regulated Motion Power System™ (AMPS™).

The PowerHawk, the first-of-its-kind, is designed to assist emergency response teams in the event of a major emergency or disaster by providing up to 50 kVA of scalable power to run a rescue base station, back sensitive equipment in a hospital, run a remote military operation, or any operation where mobile, versatile, and quality power is needed.

The AMPS technology is unique to Power Innovations. The AMPS converts energy created by a custom designed alternator, into clean, reliable power no matter the rotational input. The system can be placed in any vehicle with a combustion engine, providing emergency response personal with 5 kVA of scalable power any time the engine is running.

“The purpose of the open house was to provide alternative ways to run major intersections and fuel pumps. We also wanted to create awareness about the necessity of having an adequate backup power system for water pumps to ensure that water is provided for fire, public use, and sewage pumping. We are pleased to introduce the AMPS technology and the PowerHawk to the first response fleet,” says Kevin B. Gardner, Program Manager for the PowerHawk and AMPS.
