Power Innovations International, Inc. has the ability to impact global energy by introducing environmentally friendly, new energy generation and waste heat recovery technologies, as well as their accompanying energy management and storage solutions. Power Innovations’ overall power independence objective also incorporates CHP (combined heat and power), zero energy for homes and businesses, and other complimentary technologies that implement energy conservation and independence. The Power Innovations solutions will bring control of energy resources and costs back to individual homeowners, businesses, and other users worldwide, with or without the presence of grid power, as well as provide energy in remote areas of the Earth.

The focus of Power Innovations is to enable individual homeowners and businesses worldwide to generate new power, capture excess power, and recycle power, either for power independence or to supplement and enhance available utility power.

With the release of clean, environmentally friendly solutions, Power Innovations will supply cost effective, scalable green energy generation and waste heat recovery solutions, with the ability to store and account for energy, and, when desired, return power to the grid.

In order to accomplish its power independence objective, Power Innovations focuses on an integrated solution, which includes energy management, energy storage, and energy generation (see figure).

Power quality is today’s number one issue. Superior power quality is essential for today’s sensitive electronic equipment, while at the same time, the power being supplied by utilities is constantly decreasing in quality and availability. Since power demand exceeds supply—and the gap is widening—there are wide fluctuations in the quality of available power.

Essential in today’s power environment, as well as to Power Innovations’ long-term mission, is energy management. Energy management includes conversion, isolation, and regulation of unstable energy to provide clean, dependable, stable energy output, and the management of energy resources.

Power Innovations entered the energy market in 2001 with state-of-the-art energy management and storage products utilizing the company’s proprietary Uninterruptible Power Quality™ (UPQ™) technology. UPQ is an unprecedented new standard that began with traditional UPS technologies and moved forward to address critical modern power issues. Traditional UPS systems focus on backup power; UPQ technology focuses primarily on the critical issues of power quality and management, while still providing backup when power outages occur.

UPQ technology incorporates additional features and functions not found in conventional UPS systems. UPQ technology assures perfect power to connected equipment regardless of the quality or source of incoming power. UPQ systems are always online (multi-conversion) and provide many advantages that make them a new standard for a new decade.

Power Innovations provides its 500VA through 500kVA management and storage solutions into the multi-billion dollar global UPS market. Currently, Power Innovations is utilizing conventional battery technologies with enhanced management features for backup purposes. Power Innovations has the technology to interact with multiple existing storage technologies – including interaction with the grid -- and to develop new storage solutions.

The company has a strong presence in several distinct market niches, where quality power is a critical need. Although some of these markets are actually sub-sets of the company’s overall targeted management / storage markets, strong emphasis has been placed on expansion to achieve critical mass in the following specific market niches:

Power Innovations has successfully attracted and is serving high profile customers in each of its market niches, many of which have standardized on the company’s products. In addition to providing an ongoing revenue stream, most of these customers use customized versions of Power Innovations systems, and the company is currently working on several additional projects for these same customers.

The PowerWell™, currently under development by Power Innovations, uses temperature differentials, typically ambient, collected radiant and solar, to create power. The Power Innovations PowerWell is being developed to provide green, renewable electricity for homes and businesses, as well as areas of the Earth where there is a need for power generation and/or independence. The PowerWell is being designed from inception to be small in size, efficient, and cost effective, as well as scalable for larger uses.

The PowerWell home / business system will use Power Innovations’ power management products (currently being sold globally to provide perfect, quality power in critical applications) and existing, as well as new, energy storage technologies. Planned into the PowerWell is the ability to generate power, store excess power for later use and/or to return power to the utility companies for credit, thus making better use of available energy resources. In underdeveloped countries and in remote locations, PowerWell will allow the generation of power, with or without the availability of local power sources.

The ThermaticZ, also currently under development by Power Innovations, is a thermal recovery unit that can turn excess heat from various sources into additional energy. Wasted high temperatures resulting from many processes (nuclear power plants and other generation sources, manufacturing, refineries, data rooms, etc.) can be utilized to reduce energy needs through easily attainable additional power output.

Implementing unique power independence technologies, Power Innovations provides the PowerHawkEMP (first conceived and commissioned for the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympic Winter Games and re-defined as a product in 2006).

The PowerHawk is a 3 to 50 kVA scalable emergency mobile power that can deliver N+1 UPQ power for critical services when utility power is compromised or non-existent. The vehicle is customizable for various municipality, military, and government applications (see PowerHawk).

With the AMPS system, vehicles, boats, motor homes, etc. can generate 5-10kVA of perfect quality power at full load requirements either at idle or full throttle. Efficiencies, power outputs, and applications are maximized by allowing a wide range of rotational input speeds.

Unlike traditional generators that require a constant RPM, the AMPS technology delivers constant perfect power over a wide range of rotational inputs. When AMPS is implemented in combustion engines, throttle speed is no longer a concern (see AMPS).
